Curiosidad: Con 2.319 butacas en tres niveles, el Plaza (cuyo logo decía "La sala de los grandes éxitos") fue al inaugurarse el cine más grande de Montevideo, record que sólo perdió mientras estuvo abierto el Censa (09/04/1953 al 27/08/1989). Su capacidad le permitía albergar además otro tipo de espectáculos, y fue durante su tiempo el local líder de la Compañía Central Cinematográfica S.A. (C.C.C.). En 2005 comenzó a discontinuar sus exhibiciones cinematográficas y terminó por abandonarlas definitivamente en favor de los espectáculos en vivo.
